Philosophy
We believe that those living with Alzheimer’s or other dementias are whole, capable beings, deserving of love, respect, kindness, and purpose.
LIVING
We recognize that aging and living with memory loss need not be about decline and despair, but instead, a chance to joyously soar to new heights of human growth and awareness. The goal of the traditional model of care for those with Alzheimer’s is to simply mitigate decline. We advocate for well-being which includes identity, connectedness, meaning, and joy.
IDENTITY
We facilitate story telling so that those living with dementia can maintain a sense of identity, self, purpose, and legacy. Part of knowing each other deeply involves acknowledging our strengths and what we have to offer.
JOY
The best soil for joyful moments is always found in places where relationships are deep, rich and intensely meaningful. It is through the relationships we have with one another that we can discover ways to recognize and celebrate those moments when they occur.
MEANING
A person-centered approach infuses meaning into every act, and every relationship. The rhythm of daily life is affirming and nurturing, drawing people together in meaningful ways.
CONNECTEDNESS
Studies show physical and emotional benefits to staying connected to loved ones. Giving and receiving reciprocally provides a sense of purpose for those with memory loss.
